Our Humble Beginnings
It all started with a simple string of lights. Our founder, John Smith, had fond memories of decorating the Christmas tree with his family as a child. He wanted to recreate that nostalgia for other families to enjoy. So in 1984, John began producing and selling Christmas lights under the brand name Holiday Time®.
The colorful, twinkling lights were an instant hit, lighting up homes across the nation during the holiday season. As demand grew, John expanded the product line to include Christmas trees, ornaments, nutcrackers, and other festive decor.
By the early 1990s, Holiday Time® had become one of the largest Christmas decoration brands in the US. But for John, it wasn’t about the money or the fame. He just wanted to bring joy and bring families together, one holiday at a time.
Growing the Brand with Heart
As the company grew, John made sure Holiday Time® stayed true to its roots. He focused on creating high-quality products that captured the magical spirit of Christmas.
One of John’s first big innovations was developing pre-lit artificial Christmas trees. By stringing lights directly into the branches, the trees literally glowed with holiday warmth right out of the box. This made decorating easier for busy families.
Next, John pioneered themed Christmas tree collections. He created whimsical nutcracker and Victorian inspired trees, elegant white Christmas trees, and playful Disney character trees for kids. There was a tree for every style and budget.
Beyond trees, John expanded into nutcrackers, ornaments, garlands, stockings, and more. But he made sure each new product was infused with nostalgic charm and yuletide spirit.
Even as a global enterprise today, we still follow John’s philosophy of making heartwarming holiday decor to bring pure Christmas joy.

Since those early days, Holiday Time® has grown into the largest Christmas store in the world – both online and in-person.
